A director and screenwriter who started his artistic career since he was young, where he stood in front of the late Abdel Halim Hafez as an actor in the films Love Story and Girls and Summer. He studied cinema and obtained a BA at the Higher Institute of Cinema in 1968, directing division. He worked as an assistant director with directors Helmy Halim, Ashraf Fahmy and Mohamed Abdel Aziz. He is considered one of the most important directors of his generation.
