An American actor, born in Los Angeles, California, on June 4, 1932, as John Sidney Blythe Barrymore Jr. to actor John Barrymore and actress Dolores Costello. He received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960 for his television work. Among his most important works are High Lonesome...Read more (1950), The Big Night (1951), Never Love a Stranger (1958), and Arms of the Avenger (1963). His mother tried to prevent him from pursuing acting and sent him to St. John's Military Academy, but he did not complete his studies and turned to acting at the age of 17. However, his rebellious nature brought him many problems, as he was imprisoned several times because of drunkenness, as well as for hitting his wife, actress Cara Williams, and in spite of that, he appeared on the screen from time to time. John Drew Barrymore lived a secluded life under the care of his children, especially actress Drew Barrymore, until his death on November 29, 2004, in Los Angeles, California, of cancer.
