In 1985, Serkis joined the Duke Playhouse in Lancaster, where he acted in 14 plays. In 1999, Serkis scored the role of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Serkis is also known for his roles in The Prestige (2006), and Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011).
