A devil worshipper, Prince Prospero welcomes a number of the local nobility to his castle in order to protect them from the Red Death's plague. Prospero invites his guests to a masquerade ball, where he sees a mysterious, masked stranger in red, believing that it is Satan, his master. He is afraid to reveal the man's true identity.
