In its 18th round, the Screen Actors Guild Awards surprised many in its awards. The first was awarding the Outstanding Performance by a female actor in a leading role for Viola...Read more Davis for her role in "The Help" and excluded Meryl Streep who gathered many awards for playing Margret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady" which makes Viola a big competitor in the Oscars. And by snatching two other awards, "The Help" surprised everyone again by gaining the Outstanding Performance by a female actor in a supporting role for "Octavia Spencer" and the Best Cast Award which was expected for "The Artist". The other surprise was the Outstanding Performance by a male actor in a leading role which was given to Jean Dujardin for his role in "The Artist" instead of George Clooney for his role in "The Descendants". What was expected finally happened when Christopher Plummer won the Outstanding Performance by a male actor in a supporting role for playing Hal in the "Beginners" which gets him closer to winning the Oscars.
