Abdullahi Mahmoud was an Egyptian actor, born in 1959 in Cairo. He started working as an actor at an early age in school plays. He then appeared in a lot of television series like “Asfoor El Nar” (The Bird of Fire) and “Al Abriyaa'” (The Innocent). Mahmoud was introduced to film by director Youssef Chahine in the film “Eskendereya Leih?” (Alexandria, Why?). His breakthrough role in the film earned him roles in many films to follow, with prominent presence in arthouse films, including “Sawaq El Autobees” (The Bus Driver), “El Touq wel Eswera” (The Collar and the Bracelet) and “El Mowaten Masry” (The Egyptian Citizen). Later in his life, Mahmoud experimented with production, producing the film “Wahed Cappuccino” (One Cappuccino) which featured his first role as the lead character. Abdullah died in 2005, before the release of the film, due to complications of cancer.
