He directed many theatrical works, most notably the play Julius Caesar, and Blood Wedding, and then turned to the acting and participated in dozens of works, most notably King Ghazi, and in 2005, moments before the opening of the Iraqi Intellectuals Conference, he suffered a sudden heart attack and passed away.
