An Egyptian folk singer, born in Sharqia Governorate. She graduated from the Institute of Arab Music, Vocal Department. She released many albums, traveled to many Arab and European countries, and participated in many music festivals. She also participated in the national campaign...Read more for birth control with the song Hassanein and Muhammadein. She also participated as a singer in many Egyptian films starting in the late seventies, including A Smart Plan (1983), and The Captain Has Arrived (1991), as well as the series Al-Kabir Awy (2013). Her most prominent work was the movie Mouths & Rabbits (1977), where she performed the movie's song in the opening and closing credits. She married Major General Shafiq El Shayeb, who is also her business manager, and had three daughters.
