Bad Boys was not an exception as two films followed which received even higher revenues which went up into the hundreds of millions. Both films had similar ideas as they were both based on alien invasions of Earth, however each gave the topic different treatments. The first was 1996’s Independence Day and the second was 1997’s Men in Black, the latter saw Smith act alongside Tommy Lee Jones. Thereafter Smith continued to present successful films and this has made him among the best known and most successful black actors in the history of cinema. The actor was nominated for the Oscar twice, the first time was for 2001’s Ali, which was directed by Michael Mann and the second was for 2006’s The Pursuit of Happiness.
