He worked on the stage for a period with the Royal Shakespeare Company where director Steven Spielberg saw him and decided to nominate him for the role of Richard Winters in the miniseries "Band of Brothers" in 2001 for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. He then presented several notable works such as Life (2007) and The Escapist (2008).
