  • Dan O'Bannon was an American horror and sci-fi film screenwriter, director and sometimes actor. He found his greatest success writing the screenplay for the Oscar-winning "Alien"...Read more (1979) directed by Ridley Scott, which spawned three sequels and a full fledged media franchise. The screenplay was based on a story he wrote with his friend Ronald Shusett. O'Bannon's other credits include "Dead & Buried" (1981), "Lifeforce" (1985), "The Return of the Living Dead" (1985), "Total Recall" (1990), "Screamers" (1995) and "Alien vs. Predator" (2004). O'Bannon died from Crohn's disease in 2009.
