At the age of three, Jackie appeared in Lloyd Hamilton comedies under the name of Leonard. Cooper was famous for his role “Perry White”, editor of the Daily Planet newspaper in the 4-part Superman. He is the youngest Academy Award nominee ever (9 years and 20 days) for his leading role in “Skippy (1931)”. He won 2 Emmy awards, Best Directing in Comedy for “M*A*S*H (1972)” and Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series for “The white shadow (1978)”. Jackie served in US Navy in the South Pacific toward the end of World War II, and then became one of the most important Naval recruiters. Worth mention, Cooper has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Jackie Cooper died on May 3rd, 2011 at a hospital in Beverly Hills California.
