She was born in Pasadena, California, on November 6, 1964....Read more She's had lead roles on film and television in every decade since the 1960s: "Gidget" (1965-66), "The Flying Nun" (1967-70), "Sybil" (1976), "Smokey and the Bandit" (1977), "Norma Rae" (1979), "Absence of Malice" (1981), "Places in the Heart" (1984), "Steel Magnolias" (1989), "Not Without My Daughter" (1991), "Mrs. Doubtfire" (1993), "Forrest Gump" (1994), "Eye for an Eye" (1996), "ER," "Brothers & Sisters" (2006-2011), "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012) and "Lincoln" (2012). Field has won two Oscars for Best Actress for "Norma Rae" and "Places in the Heart." Her breathy, often quoted acceptance speech is remembered for her jubilant outburst "I haven't had an orthodox career, and I've wanted more than anything to have your respect.
