American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter born as Carl Michael Franklin on 11 April 1949 in Richmond, California. He studied history and dramatic arts at UC Berkeley then got a Master's degree in film direction in 1986 from the American Film Institute. He made his acting debut on Five on the Black Hand Side (1973) and made his directorial debut with the short film Punk (1986). His most notable works include One False Move (1992), Devil in a Blue Dress (1995), and Out of Time (2003). |
