He was nominated in 1965 for the Golden Globe Award as the best star Television for his role in the series Slattery's People and for his role in the movie The Flamingo Kid. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award as Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 1985. In 1986, he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award as Best Actor in a Television Movie for his role in The Rape of Richard Beck. Throughout his career, he participated in more than 70 different works. He married Joanne Grisham and, afterwards, Hannah Smith. He died in Los Angeles, California, USA on January 17, 2003.
