He played his first gigs at the American University, and they continued to show up at a lot of festivals and parties at the local level. In 1971, he invited American jazz legend Sun Ra to play in Egypt. After the success of the concert, Rajab joined the band on a European tour. He appeared in the film Coward in Love (1975). Rajab died in 2008.
