Sebastian Koch is a versatile German actor born in Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1962. His mother raised him by herself, thus he spent part of his childhood in the children's home where she worked. After a number of acclaimed performances on stage in Munich and Berlin, Koch broke records for his performances in 2001. He won the Adolf Grimme Award for two of his projects, "Dance with the Devil - The Kidnapping of Richard Oetker" and "The Manns - A Novel of the Century." He is the only actor to have won the award for two different productions in one year. Koch also played Hitler's would-be assassin in the critically acclaimed TV movie "Stauffenberg," for which eh was nominated for the German Television Award and the Grimme Award. He also plays the lead role in the somber "The Lives of Others," winner of the 2007 Oscar for best international film, about a writer subjected to intense police surveillance in 1984 East Berlin. Koch plays a Russian villain in 2013's "A Good Day to Die Hard."
