She studied music and psychology...Read more at the University of the Pacific in California, and was discovered by actress Norma Shearer, who introduced her to MGM, which cast her in a major role as a naive girl in the movie The Romance of Rosy Ridge. Her name was also changed to Janet Leigh. She continued being cast as the innocent girl in a large number of successful films with major Hollywood stars during the 1950s. Her works ranged from drama and comedies to musicals, and in the seventies she began appearing on television. She received the Golden Apple Award in 1952 and 1960, a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960 and a Golden Globe Award in 1961. She died on October 3, 2004 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California. Among her most notable films Little Women, Psycho, The Manchurian Candidate, and The Fog.
