An American actress, born as Lucile Vasconcellos Langhanke on May 3, 1906, in Quincy, Illinois, USA. She appeared in her first film, Sentimental Tommy (1921), although her role was cut. After a few bit parts, she was chosen by John Barrymore to co-star with him in Beau Brummel...Read more (1924). The two also began an off-screen romance; however, it was short-lived. Astor's other notable films include The Maltese Falcon (1941), starring Humphrey Bogart, The Great Lie (1941), for which she won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and The Palm Beach Story (1942). She died on September 25, 1987, in Woodland Hills, California.
