Her first film, Sam & Mewon Honorable Mention in the Camera d'Or category of the 1991 Cannes...Read more Film Festival. Her tribology Fire, Earth, and Water trilogy, which depicts oppression and sexism in modern Indian history won Best Foreign Language Film. She adapted Salman Rushdie's novel Midnight's Children to a movie in 2012.
