The first film in which she appeared as a dancer was The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band (1968). The following year, she played a role opposite actor Walter Matthau in the film Cactus Flower, for which she won anAcademy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and a Golden Globe Award in the same category. Following her success, she landed many roles in films, such as There's a Girl in My Soup (1970) and Shampoo (1975). She played a role opposite her partner Kurt Russell in the 1987 film Overboard. She married twice, the first time to actor and director Gus Trikonis from 1969 to 1974, and in 1975 she married musician Bill Hudson, with whom she had two children, Oliver and Kate Hudson, but they got divorced in 1980. Since 1983, she has been in a relationship with actor Kurt Russell.
