An American actor, born in New York, United States. He began his acting career on Broadway in New York before breaking into the world of cinema. However, he maintained his presence on stage throughout his artistic career. He joined the American Army in WWII. He is known for Dog Day Afternoon (1975) and The Final Countdown (1980). He was nominated for two Oscars in the category of Best Supporting Actor, in addition to receiving a Tony Award, a theatrical award. He married twice and had three children. He passed away in New York.
