At the age of twenty-seven, he applied to study at the Danish National Theater and finished his studies in 1995. He is known for his role in the series Forbrydelsen, known globally as The Murder, and participated in the third season of the series Sherlock. He also participated in several Danish and non-Danish films. Besides Danish, he speaks fluent English, Swedish and German and is fluent in several dialects. He married Danish actress Anette Støvelbæk.
