An American singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and television personality. She was born on March 17, 1977 in Maryland. She is the younger sister of singer Toni Braxton. She gained fame in 1989 as a founding member of the band The Braxtons that she and her sisters founded. After two members left the band, she released the album So Many Ways with three members in 1996. In 2000, Tamar worked on her own after signing a contract with DreamWorks Records and released the album Tamar. In 2011, Tamar reunited with her sisters in the band for the reality TV show Braxton Family Values. Tamar released a second solo album, Love and War. She as well participated in a number of films, most notably Django Unchained (2012).
