A Syrian writer born in 1943 in Deir Attia and graduated from high school in commerce. He worked as editor-in-chief of the Agriculture magazine, one of the few magazines at the time. He came to radio in the mid-sixties, so he is considered one of the veteran writers of Radio...Read more Damascus. He continued his work until illness began to limit his creativity. The archive of Damascus Radio includes more than five thousand radio episodes that he wrote, which varied between daily and weekly diversified programmes, skits and serials, including the comic series The Treasure, the program Fun Island, and skits entitled A Moment of Fun. He was also a singer and a lyric poet, and he worked as a text monitor in the variety department before he assumed the presidency of the drama department. He was one of the founders of the Arabic Song Festival, whose first session was held in 1976, and he was a member of the festival committees. Among his notable dramatic programs is The Listener’s Hour. He also worked in television at an early stage, but he remained loyal to the radio, and one of his early television works was the comic program Sweet Seller, which he co-wrote with Issa Ayoub in 1968. He died on August 14, 2008.
