An American writer and director, born in Los Angeles, United States. He is the son of screenwriter Ian McLellan Hunter. He went to Harvard University and graduated in 1968. He was a professor at the University of California and Santa Cruz. His works include River's Edge (1986), The Saint of Fort Washington (1993), and Kings of South Beach (2007).
