• An American writer and politician, born in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He studied law at the University of Georgia and was admitted to the bar after practicing law in Rome, Georgia. He...Read more went back to Rome after the war, but subsequently relocated to Cartersville, Georgia. After 1877, he made his home there and became involved in politics, serving in the Georgia State Senate. Following the war, his writing career took off, particularly as a result of the letters he addressed to the editor of the Atlanta Constitution under the pen name "Bill Arp," which landed him a columnist post there. He therefore started writing at the time about politics, the government, and current affairs. In addition, he authored several works that were made into motion pictures.
