He won the 1955 Emmy Award for his TV series Gunsmoke (1955-1975), the 1973 Ralph Morgan Award, the 1984 Golden Boot Award, and a star on the Walk of Fame in 1986. He married...Read more Geraldine Stowell (1945-2006), got three children, and remained with her until his death on February 24, 2006 in Ridgway, Colorado, USA from cancer. Among his most important works: Gentle Ben (1967) and McCloud (1970). He practiced sports in the championship sector while studying at the University of Oklahoma. He participated in the Olympic Games and got sixth place. He also won the 1500-meter sprint championship. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts. He served as a pilot in the US Navy during World War II. In 1973, Weaver became president of the Screen Actors Guild.
