An English author and screenwriter, born in 1979. His debut novel, Child 44, about a series of child murders in Stalinist Russia, was published in early 2008 and has been translated into 36 languages. In 2018, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or a Dramatic Special for the episode House by the Lake of the TV anthology series American Crime Story (2018), but lost to William Bridges and Charlie Brooker, who won for the episode USS Callister of the TV anthology series Black Mirror (2017).
