Demel. In 1929, she then started co-starring in non-silent movies. But her personal problems affected her stardom during the 1930s. She is best known for her role as Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd. (1950) with William Holden. She won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama and was nominated an Oscar for Best Actress. She died on April 4, 1983, New York City.
