American actor, composer, poet, pianist, and singer who was born November 22, 1899 in Bloomington, Indiana, USA. He won an Oscar for Music in 1952 for the movie Here Comes the Groom (1951). He received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960 for his television work. He married Ruth...Read more Meinardi (1937-1955), with whom he got two children, and after their separation he married actress Wanda McKay (1981-1977) and remained with her until his death. Among his most important works are: Night Song (1947), Young Man with a Horn (1950), and The Godfather part II (1974). He obtained his law degree from Indiana University and played the piano in college. He practiced law for a while, then left it to study how to compose songs, poetry and music. He composed many famous folk songs. He died on December 27, 1981 (age 82) in Rancho Mirage, California, USA.
