American screenwriter, producer, and director born on 20 June 1959. He first began experimenting with film early on while working for the Fullerton Public Library in Orange County, California. He also took film production courses at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California...Read more in 1978. That's when he decided to produce his first-ever documentary on the Marx Brothers titled "The Marx Brothers in a Nutshell" which eventually aired on PBS in 1982. He is famous for being principal director and executive producer on Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000-2005), for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award, and has directed several documentaries, including the Academy Award-nominated and Primetime Emmy Award-winning Lenny Bruce: Swear to Tell the Truth (1999).
