He had an illegal trip to Europe, through Niger, Algeria, and Libya to reach Italy. Thanks to his knowledge of several African languages, he was hired as an interpreter by an Italian agency and obtained his identity papers. He resided in the countryside near Calabria and became active in the movement of defending the immigrant workers who rioted in Rosarno in January 2010. Director Jonas Carpignano nominated him for the leading role in A Chjàna (Short 2012) and Mediterranea (2015) which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
