An American actress, born as Mary Tomlinson, in Acton, Indiana, USA, on February 24, 1890. Marjorie Main married psychologist Stanley LeFevre Krebs (1921-1935) and remained with him until his death. She is best known for Ma and Pa Kettle Back on the Farm (1951), The Egg and I...Read more (1947), The Women (1939), and The Belle of New York (1952). Marjorie Main studied at Franklin College in Indiana, and her father was a Disciples of Christ minister. She first appeared on Broadway in 1916, and her first screen appearances were in Harry Fox and His Six American Beauties (1929) and A House Divided (1931). During the forties, she achieved great popularity as a comedian through 6 important works, including Barnacle Bill (1941) and The Egg and I (1947), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Marjorie Main died on April 10, 1975, in Los Angeles, California, USA, of lung cancer.
