An American actress and singer, born in Queens, New York State, USA, on February 28, 1948, as Bernadette Anastasia Lazzara. She received a Golden Globe Award in 1982, an ACE Award in 1987, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the same year. Bernadette Peters was married to Michael Wittenberg (1996-2005) and remained with him until he was killed in a helicopter crash while on a business trip. Among her notable works are The Jerk (1979), Annie (1982), Anastasia (1997), and Cinderella (1997). Bernadette began her artistic career by singing on the stage when she was a child, and in her teens, she worked as an actress during the 1960s. In the 1970s, she worked in film and television, then she returned to the theater during the 1980s, becoming one of the most famous Broadway stars during the next 3 decades.
