An American actress, born October 6, 1906 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She began her acting career in 1924. She is also an Academy Award winner. Her most notable films include 7th Heaven (1927), Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927), Sunny Side Up (1929), A Star Is Born (1937), and The Young in Heart (1938). She died on September 14, 1984.
