A German actress who was born in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany on 17 May 1909 and died on 30 July 1996 in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany. She received the Honorary Award in 1982. She is known for Sissi (1955), Sissi: The Young Empress 1956, Sissi: The Fateful Years of an Empress...Read more (1957), and Drei Frauen im Haus. After graduating from the monastery school, she studied business administration and stenography at a trade school. She took lessons in ballet and acting at the Augsburg School of Music. She stood on stage in Munich and Vienna, acted, sang, and presented her first film Boycott (1930). She married actor Wolf Albach-Retty and gave birth to her two daughters Wolf-Dieter and Rosemary. After her divorce, she returned to work in the cinema and theater and encouraged her daughter Rosemary to become an actress.
