John attended Horace Mann School and briefly attended Columbia University, where he intended to follow in his father's steps by studying engineering. But when he discovered that acting his passion, he left Columbia...Read more and studied at Theodora Irvine School of Theater and Pasadena Playhouse. He is know for: The Corn Is Green (1945), by which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He appeared in only eight films from 1945 to 1961, and later died on January 15, 1971 in Beverly Hills, California.
