He was a Czech actor and writer, born on June 19, 1905, in Sázava, Czechia. He was educated at the Carnot High School in Dijon and Charles University, Faculty of Law, in Prague. His notable works include 12 Angry Men (1957), Somewhere in Time (1980), and The Iceman Cometh (1973). He was married to Christianne McKeown. He passed away on  July 1, 1981 in Pearblossom, California, USA.
