Alan...Read more Marshall was the son of the famous stage actress Erbie Marshall and the English actor and producer Leonard Wylie, and the family left Australia for the United States in 1914 when Alan was 5. Alan appeared on Broadway in 1924 at 15 and continued to appear on stage until 1935 when he held a film test for the Saloznik Company. He made his movie debut in The Garden of Allah (1936). He contracted with MGM to make the film After the Thin Man (1936). When he was placed in B-category films with low production, he expressed his objection to the studio’s policy. Marshall was suffering from a chronic nervous condition, which ended his career. He died of a heart attack at the age of 52 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on July 13, 1961.
