Her cinematic career stopped at the beginning of World War II, when she worked as an ambulance driver for two years, and after she married actor Jimmy Hanley, she appeared with him in many war films, such as Salute John Citizen (1942). In 1965, she appeared in the comedy play Let's All Go Down the Strand (1967) on West End, and continued her theatrical work after that for 25 years. She also participated in the successful film The Railway Children (1970), after which she devoted herself to theater and television, and did not participate in more films, except The Mirror Crack'd (1980). Dinah Sheridan was one of the first actresses to appear on British television in 1936. Among her TV work is the series Armchair Theater (1968), and her last television appearance was in the series Jonathan Creek (1999). She died in 2012 at the age of 92.
