He sold millions of records and had multiple hit songs, including "Catch a Falling Star", "It's Impossible" and "And I Love You So". He appeared in a few films, including Words and Music (1948), and If I'm Lucky (1946). He's known for hosting his own musical variety television show. He continued to perform at concerts until he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and died in 2001 at the age of 89.
