Despite this, Carlos continued to live in Bogata with his sister, the singer Alcira and continued his musical studies. He worked on Colombian radio, joined a musical group, and toured South America. While in Argentina, he started singing on the local radio and in a cafe. He was a singer in a number of films, and his first film was Bathing Beauty (1944), with Esther Williams. He became an international musician, sang in many countries, and earned a lot of money, but also lost a lot due to his gambling addiction. After his last film appearance in Un americano en Toledo (1960), he devoted himself to singing. He's known for Easy to Wed (1946) and Where Do We Go from Here? (1945). He died in Miami, Florida, USA, on December 11, 1986, at age 70.
