An English actor who was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom on January 17, 1864 and died in Woodland Hills Los Angeles, California, USA on December 26, 1951. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1958 for his film career. His most important works are: What...Read more Every Woman Knows (1934), Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Charlie Chan in London (1934), and Raffles (1930). He was born in Scotland and was the second of 11 children, and he was educated in England and Germany. He went to California and worked in silent films, such as The Prisoner of Zenda (1913) and Tess of the D'Urbervilles (1913). He went on to act in Broadway plays, but after World War I, he made a comeback to Hollywood and made several silent films. His last role was Rulers of the Sea (1939), and he retired from cinema and worked in the theater until his death in 1951 at the age of 87.
