He began acting in England in the 1950s, and got affiliated with the National Theatre, Abbey and Gate Theaters in Dublin, and with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Among his important works are: The Blue Max (1966), Strictly Personal (1953), and Lassiter (1984). He died in London, on July 24, 2009 of cancer.
