In the seventies, he became president of the extras union. Stephens made his debut in It Happened Tomorrow in 1944 and his last work was The Nude Bomb in 1980. Among his most important works are: American Gigolo (1980), Billy Jack Goes to Washington (1977), Mod Squad (1968-1972) and The Doris Day Show (1970-1973). He died in Burbank, California, on July 15, 1980 of lung cancer.
