A Dutch architect, born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She studied architecture at the Elckerlyc Academy of Architecture and Applied Arts and sociology at Utrecht University. During World War II, Sandy was active in the Dutch resistance. After her studies, she worked in planning and architectural offices in the Netherlands, Sweden, and Ireland, and later had her own office in Amsterdam. A member of the International Congress of Modern Architecture, Sandy drafted the Doorn Manifesto for the Team 10 architectural organization. She died on July 6, 2009, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
