He is best known for his portrayal of Big Jule in the theatrical and movie versions of Guys and Dolls. In the cinema, he performed supporting and minor roles. Pully died at the age of 61 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, on January 6, 1972, of a heart attack.
