Director Magdy Ahmed ‘Aly has commenced filming his new work “al-Meedan” (“The Square”) immediately after having finished work on the script. The title is inspired by events and people involved in the revolution of the 25th of January. Magdy intends to integrate some of the live scenes which he filmed during the course of the revolution so that the work could serve as a sort of historical account of the landmark events. The film title narrates the story of a character named Dr. Tareq Helmy. Helmy is a specialized heart surgeon who has found himself completely detached from the rest of the world and overly consumed by his work and patients. This changes however when the revolution takes place and his family join the protesters asking him to come along to provide medical aid for the revolutionaries. The script also features other stories which intersect with the main plotline – these subplots are still being developed.“al-Meedan” (“The Square”) features the talents of Ahmed ‘Abd Al ‘Aziz , Noha al-‘Amroussy, Mona Hala and Ahmed Magdy.
