Sa’id Saleh: The events of the 25th of January will restore theater to its former status

In an interview with al-Ahram al-Massaey, actor Sa’id Saleh has affirmed that he strongly believes that the events of the revolution of the 25th of January will restore to theater the respect which was formerly attributed to it. Saleh explained that this is due to the efforts of the youths of the revolution who have put Egypt on the right track.Sa’id has furthermore stated that he is seriously considering presenting a theatrical work in which he will discuss the revolution, an event which has impacted all of Egypt and indeed the world as a whole. The actor has further indicated that the production would be an adaptation of a story titled “Laymouna al-Mahayya” which was authored by renowned poet Fouad Haddad.With regards to the means by which some of theater’s problems could be solved, Saleh has said: “We should cast the light on issues which could face theater in the coming period and on how to restore values and reformulate them for the present, we should also learn from past mistakes and harvest from them lessons for the future.”
